Meet Our Leaders

Robert "Bob" Beckwith

I've been privileged to serve as the director of UGA Wesley for the past 10 1/2 years. My wife Annette and I will soon celebrate our 29th anniversary. We have been blessed with 4 amazing children, Emily, Rob, Caleb and Laura. I have a passion to introduce Wesley students to the people of the Holy Land and to enable them to experience first hand the places where Biblical history was made.

Jennie Armstrong

I'm the mother of 3 extremely energetic children who consume my life. I am currently an intern at Wesley with the Women's Ministry. I have been so blessed this year to serve and am thankful to the Lord for a chance to start over. I am a broken woman in desperate need of Jesus and can't wait for what the Lord will do in the Holy Land.
Joel 2:28-30, Zeph. 3:16-20, Hosea 2:14-19, Isaiah 60:1-3, 62:1-5, 43:10-19, Psalm 126

I grew up in Tifton, GA which is the Reading Capital of the World. (How weird is that claim!!) I have been married for two years to the most amazing person in the World. Shaylen and I live here in Athens and absolutely love it. We both graduated from UGA and she is a teacher. I could not ask for a better job. Serving the students here on campus is the greatest job in the world. I am super excited to see what the Lord is going to do in Israel. One last thing, I love Fuji Apples!!

Matthew 9:37-38

Holly Avera

I was born and raised in Fayetteville, GA living with my dad, mom and brother Michael, who I refer to as Bubba (its true). In 2007 I graduated from UGA with a BBA in Marketing-I have no idea what I'll do with it, but it is there for me just in case. I'm finishing my 3rd year interning at Wesley and next year will come on staff as an Associate Director. I really do have the best job in the world! I love watching our students encounter God in new and exciting ways. I love that we have a Dad that loves to talk with and reveal Himself to His kids all the time. I'm incredibly blessed to be where I am in life and I'm excited about all that is in store for myself, my family, my friends, the girls I disciple, Wesley, and the Church! Israel is going to be such an incredible experience for as as individuals and as a team. I know He has a lot in store for us and cannot wait to meet with Him there. God is so good-all the time.

Jeremiah 29:10-14

Coleman Porter

I am graduating from UGA the night before we leave for Israel with a BA in Spanish. I call Athens home as my mom and brothers live right outside town in Statham. I will be working on a political campaign this summer and seeking God's direction for my life outside of college. The Lord has done a lot in my life this past year, and I am so excited to see what else He has in store for me. I have an extreme passion for world politics, the conflict in Israel, and the Jewish people as a whole. I really feel like the Lord wants to awaken something in each of us and start new chapters in our lives while we are in the Holy Land.

Psalm 1

Laura Newton

I am from Augusta, GA and a graduate of UGA. I currently serve as the Associate Director of Worship at the Wesley Foundation. I am really excited about our trip to Israel, a place that has so much historical, political, and religious focus. I am just ready to see what God has in store for us, and I know we will all be changed people when we return. I can't wait!

Welcome to Our Blog for Israel!!!

Hello Students, Staff, Family and Friends,

As the staff leading the Wesley Mission Trip to Israel this May, we would like to welcome you to our new blog dedicated to the trip. The purpose of this blog will be to inform you about trip information, to keep you updated on important details as they arise, and to also give you some insight into our daily experiences in the Holy Land.

We are so excited to be leaving for Tel-Aviv. Five of us will be leaving on the 9th of May to prepare the way for the rest of the group, and the rest will be coming on the 12th. Please be keeping us all in your prayers as we venture across the world to serve the Palestinian and Jewish peoples as well as seek the Lord's will for our lives.

Also, feel free to post pertinent questions and we will answer as best we can while there in the Holy Land, but don't worry, we will be posting trip updates as often as possible.

Forthcoming are posts detailing the church where we will be staying as well as information about the leaders' hearts for the trip.

Shalom Y'all!
